After the After

Yes, there is only one little feather left on the toy.....

Now also notice that there is water on the floor next to the toy....that is because he put the toy in his water dish just a little bit ago.  Maybe I can superglue the feathers back on or something!

Before and After....

I think some of you will know what this is....but here is the before:

And here is the after:

This is a Daruma doll, also known as a japanese wishing doll.  I have had this since I went on Asian term in 2001.  When you make a wish you fill in one eye, as in the before picture.  When that wish comes true you fill in the second eye.  So....my wish was to get into medical school.  I figured that was something good and important to wish for!  Onto before an after number two:

After:

That one is probably self explanatory, but I will give you a clue....my cat liked his new toy a little too much.  I left him alone with it for MAYBE 5 minutes and came back to that.  Needless to say he can only play with the rest of the toys with supervision!  Nothing much else to report, have a great day!

The very hungry dryer

Up until about a month ago, I didn't believe in the "dryer ate my sock" phenomenon.  A little while ago, three of my socks disappeared between the wash load and the end of the dryer load.  At first I just waited to see if they would turn up in the next load, then I asked my roommate if they had turned up in his load.....nothing.  So after about two weeks I thought of an idea.....maybe they got stuck in my clean sheets that I had also watch.  Well, that was successful in finding one pair and magically another re-appeared a few weeks later in anothe load, but what about the last pair.  I honestly started believing in the dryer stealing my socks......until i finally found it stuck in a sweater that was washed in that load too!  Yeah for the dryer not eating my socks.....

Lauren's idea of how I can combine my interests: find a half asian, raised in hong kong, and therefore has a british accent!  Now I think that is a good idea..... anyone know one?

Brits, Bruises, Blizzards, and Baltimore references

So I know that I have been absent for quite a while, and I have a theory on this..... not only is it hard to talk about work, I also don't have my laptop anymore.  Not that I can't use my desktop, the laptop enabled me to multi-task....aka watch tv and work on my computer at the same time!  So  last time I posted that I had gotten accepted into my first medical school.  That wasn't my top choice, but a few weeks ago I also got into my top choice.  So I am now 99.9% sure of where I am going to be going next year....and even better it looks like I will be staying in Chicago for the next 4 years.  BTY-I just repositioned my TV so I can type and watch at the same time, maybe I have now solved my problems!  So lets start off with a recap of the recent going-ons.

I spent Christmas in Phoenix enjoying the unseasonably warm 80 degree weather.  Though I will have to say 80 degree christas is just a little weird.  Next, my sister got engaged- so is it better that I live with my sister's fiance or her boyfriend???  Then came 4 weekends in a row of shopping for wedding dresses and celebrating with the family.  Work has been work as usual.  As the study winds down, I am spending time down at the school campus helping to work on the renewal grant for the study.  Strange since I really hate writing, researching, and anything to do with grants, but it is a hell of a lot better then dealing with my co-worker.  Lately it goes like this: see patients, avoid my co-worker, see more patients, spend time away from the clinic to do more of the avoiding of the co-worker.  I have developed this strategy: silence and avoidance.  Seems to be working well for me right now.  Ok, now that brings everyone up to speed until this past weekend....which brings us to the title of this entry.

Now to the title, that is the game you have to play to figure out what each part means:)

So I spent the weekend in NYC visiting T and L.  Now did anyone see the weather news about NYC( clue #1)....but before I go there I have to start on Thursday.  I have to list all of the transportation that I took on Thursday: bus to train to work, train to train to campus, bus to bus to home, bus to train to airport, plane, shuttle to train, finally a cab to T's....WOW.  I guess I am good at public transportation!  I dind't get to T's till after 1....which is the only reason that I took a cab.

Friday: Off to the natural history museum to make it look like we  do educational things when we come to NYC.  But when we take pictures like this:

I doubt people will believe that we learned anything there.  So after the museum we hit a Irish pub for a little beer and conversation.  From that point, T and I went to dinner while L had some more conversing to do.  Now we would normally head out at this point, but we did a weird thing and stayed in watching a movie!

Saturday: Brunch at T's, window shopping in Soho, hot chocolate at some chocolate place, and then back to shower and change for the night.  We had this really nice dinner at some Korean place (I wish I remembered the name of place) before heading out to see Hairspray( clue #2).  So now this brings us to clue #3....the starting of the snow fall.  After leaving the show, we headed down to T's favorite bar called The Sunburned Cow.  From this point on, my memory may be a little fuzy, but I do remember the endings.... So we met these guys...... T met a Frenchy

and L and I met some other guys....

So now the one on the right is the Brit(#3).  So now comes the bruising part of the story.  I would like to say that the story could go like this:  it snowed a lot and I fell down and got bruised....but the real story goes as such:  drinking and dancing don't always combine if you are dancing with a brit....ahh I couldn't fill that in with a "d".  Yeah so there was some falling over while dancing, and I just happened to land on the bottom.  The result, a bruised back and face :)(clue #4).  Lets just say I am glad the face is only minor and can be covered up...or I would be sticking to story #1!!!

Now lets recap: I danced with a Brit, who caused me to have a Bruise, while outside it was Blizzarding, after seeing a play about Baltimore.....did you get all of that?  Ok, now since I am still recovering from the weekend, that is all for now.  Check back and I might finally tell which school I got into and which one I am choosing...or even better email me rdouglas39@gmail.com or call me(yes I am not giving that one out)

rob/robin/robiie....whichever you choose
